Our Story

Four friends, one workshop, a whole lot of forgotten furniture.

Tables Have Turned started the way most good things in San Diego do — over a long afternoon, with too many ideas and not quite enough plan.

Katie, Rain, Max, and Juno are four locals who’d been swapping pieces, projects, and "you should see what I just dragged home" texts for years. We grew up loving this city — the wood, the light, the salt air, the neighborhoods where every alley has a story and every garage has something worth a second look. Eventually, we figured we should stop doing it as a hobby and start doing it on purpose.

So we built a workshop. We started rescuing pieces other people had given up on. We started saying yes to commissions that didn’t fit anyone else’s box. And somewhere along the way, the side project turned into a real one.

What we believe

Good furniture has a long life if you let it. Most pieces don’t need to be replaced — they need to be listened to, repaired, and reimagined. We like the work that other shops won’t take, the pieces other people would throw out, and the projects where the answer doesn’t exist yet.

We also believe a workshop should feel like San Diego — a little salty, a little sun-bleached, fundamentally unserious about the wrong things and dead serious about the right ones.

What we make

Refurbished one-of-a-kinds for homes. Custom builds for restaurants, retail, and offices. Fixtures, tables, casegoods, the occasional weird ask. If it’s wood, metal, or something in between, we’re probably interested.

Where to find us

We’re based in San Diego and serve clients across Southern California. The best way to start a project is the contact form or a DM on Instagram.
